Our delicious Lime Essential Oil is a sweet and sour dream come true. Cold pressed from organic lime peels, this refreshing oil provides exciting notes of citrus in a cheerful scent that will energize the body and cleanse the mind. Sweet and tart with just the right amount of attitude, our Lime Oil is the manifestation of centuries of medicinal applications by everyone from the ancient Persians to colonial sailors.
Limes can trace their roots (and rinds!) back to ancient Babylonia, in what is today Southern Iraq. From there, sailors carried the seeds of the lime tree all over the world, spreading the magical fruit from Southeast Asia to the Americas.
Our Lime Essential Oil's puckering tartness melts muscles, keeps gums in tip top shape, and soothes tummies. Our oil's sweet, fresh smell not only lifts the spirits and inspires the mind; it stimulates the appetite with just one whiff of its fragrant odor. Adding a bottle of our Lime Essential Oil to your aromatherapy collection will pack a mighty powerful punch!
"And I weep; for the lime-tree is in blossom, and one small flower has dropped upon my bosom."
~ Amy Lowell, Patterns, 1917
"Lime is a traditional remedy in South Asia and in Ayurvedic medicine it is used similarly to lemon. When limes, with their Vitamin C content, were found to cure scurvy among the crew of long sea voyages, they were planted in the colonial territories, including both the East and West Indies."
~ Vicki Pitman, Aromatherapy: A Practical Approach
