Rose de Mai mirthfully unfolds petal upon petal, unfurling fragrant delights for the nose. This beautiful bouquet anoints the day with the aromatic offerings of Rose de Mai, a Rose absolute primarily enjoyed in perfumery and aromatherapy. Rosy-rich with sweet notes of amber, green honey, and a regal rosaceous bouquet, Rosa centifolia exudes over thousands of years of rosy wonderment in each fragrant drop. Rose essence has been used since antiquity to inspire feelings of love and happiness, lift the spirits, opens the heart, and elevate both the male and female essence.
Distilled from the soft, velvety petals of the Cabbage Rose, Rose de Mai Absolute contains within its oil an over 12,000-year history. The use of Rose as a get-happy and amorous essence as well as perfume dates back to 10,000 BCE, where ancient peoples carved images of the flower onto cave walls. Centuries later, Pliny praised the virtues of Rose and listed thirty-two perfume remedies with Rose, and Homer's Iliad describes the graces of this fragrant flower for anointing the body before burial. Later still, the flower offered its first drops of oil to the Arabs. By the 17th century, the Turks brought rose oil to Europe, where it has since blossomed as one of the most sought-after fragrances on the planet.
Rose de Mai Absolute is primarily used in perfumery, aromatherapy applications, and for anointing during sacred ceremony. Anoint Rose de Mai and let your joy come out and play.
"Rose de Mai Absolute is used extensively for floral bases, chypres, and Orientals, as well as for rounding out... Use with jasmine, cassia, mimosa, orange flower... You can also use it to modify bergamot, clary sage, geranium, sandalwood, guaiac wood, and patchouli."
~ Richard Alan Mille and Iona Miller, Perfumes
"I read in a book once that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but I've never been able to believe it. I don't believe a rose WOULD be as nice if it was called a thistle or a skunk cabbage."
~ L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
"But now her spirit resembled, in its potency, a minute quantity of attar of rose in one of Hephzibah's huge, iron–bound trunks, diffusing its fragrance through the various articles of linen and wrought–lace, kerchiefs, caps, stockings, folded dresses, gloves, and whatever else was treasured there. As every article in the great trunk was the sweeter for the rose–scent, so did all the thoughts and emotions of Hephzibah and Clifford, sombre as they might seem, acquire a subtle attribute of happiness from Phoebe's intermixture with them."
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne, The House of the Seven Gables
